Ladybirds
Welcome to Ladybirds Class – our Semi-Formal class for children aged 5 to 7 years. We are a busy, engaging learning environment where every child is supported to develop their communication, independence and curiosity.
Our Team
Class Teacher: Ruth
Support Staff: Lisa, Kay and Rachel
We work together as a team to ensure every child receives the support and encouragement they need throughout the school day.
This year, our priorities are settling our new children in and developing their levels of engagement by finding out what interests and motivates them. For those established members of the class, we want to use our deeper knowledge of them to bring out their communication, independence and curiosity further. We want them to develop a trusting relationship with the adults to help regulate their emotions and sensory needs.
Within Ladybirds, the curriculum focusses on developing communication and interaction, cognition and learning, social and emotional wellbeing, physical and sensory wellbeing and independence.
In our class, we value the importance of visits out of school. Community involvement provides children with real-world experiences that complement their in-class learning. Visits to local shops, farms, parks, garden centres and forest school offer practical knowledge and stimulate curiosity. These outings allow children to apply concepts learnt to real-life situations, deepening their understanding and making learning more meaningful, providing skills for independence.
This year we have a wide range of topics to learn about. We are exploring All About Me, Autumn, Harvest, Bonfire Night, Christmas, Winter Wonderland, Out of this World, Child-led learning topics, Roots, Shoots and Fruits, Transport, and Popstars and Artists. These topics help spark curiosity and engagement whilst supporting our children's learning and development.
In Ladybirds class, we feed back regularly to parents about their children's progress and achievements with communication and independence. Daily messages between staff and parents can help communicate how the children are feeling and will help ease that transition into school in the morning as we know how we can best help the children as they enter the room, as well as us letting you know how your child is coming home. You can support us by sharing your proud moments of progress with us so we can build on them together.
