Hello! My name is Charlie and I am the Classroom Teacher in Foxes Class, working alongside four wonderful Teaching Assistants who I truly couldn’t do my job without!
Foxes Class is an Informal Pathway class for our gorgeous, boisterous, cheeky and wonderfully active boys aged between 7 and 9. Every day in Foxes Class is different, and our classroom is always full of energy, laughter, curiosity and plenty of personality!
Many of our boys have limited verbal communication, with some being non-verbal, so one of our biggest priorities is making sure that every child has a voice. We use a range of communication approaches and resources, including visuals, symbols, objects of reference, gestures, choices and individual communication systems, to ensure that each child can express their wants, needs, feelings, choices and ideas in a way that works for them.
For me, communication is about so much more than simply being able to speak. Every child deserves to be heard, understood and valued. My role is to support and guide our boys, helping them to discover how they can communicate, make choices, develop their independence and feel confident in their ability to influence the world around them.
Through structured learning, sensory experiences, play, communication, independence skills and opportunities to explore the world around us, we aim to help our boys develop the skills they need not only for school, but for life.
Most importantly, we want Foxes Class to be a place where our boys feel safe, happy and understood for exactly who they are, celebrating every achievement no matter how big or small.
I feel incredibly privileged to be part of their journey, and I can't wait to see what our wonderful Foxes achieve together this year!
