Pupil Premium

At Stanley School, we are deeply committed to ensuring that every pupil, regardless of their background or circumstances, has the opportunity to thrive and achieve their full potential.

What is Pupil Premium?

Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government to support pupils who:

  • Are eligible for free school meals (or have been in the last 6 years)
  • Are looked after by the local authority or have left care through adoption, a special guardianship order or child arrangements order
  • Have parents serving in the armed forces

This funding recognises that some pupils may face additional barriers to learning and aims to help schools provide extra support to ensure these pupils achieve as well as their peers.

Our Approach

At Stanley School, we use Pupil Premium funding strategically and thoughtfully to:

  • Remove barriers to learning – ensuring that disadvantaged pupils can access the same high-quality curriculum and opportunities as all other pupils
  • Provide targeted support – offering personalised interventions, therapies and resources that meet individual needs
  • Enhance experiences – ensuring all pupils can participate fully in educational visits, enrichment activities and learning beyond the classroom
  • Support wellbeing – addressing social, emotional and mental health needs that may affect learning
  • Build independence – developing the skills and confidence pupils need for their future lives

Our use of Pupil Premium funding reflects our core values:

Caring – We understand that some families face additional challenges, and we work sensitively and respectfully to ensure every child receives the support they need.

Learning – We invest in evidence-based approaches and interventions that we know make a real difference to pupils' progress and achievement.

Inclusive – We ensure that financial circumstances never prevent a pupil from accessing opportunities, experiences or the support they need to succeed.

Ambitious – We have the same high aspirations for all our pupils, and we use Pupil Premium funding to help disadvantaged pupils achieve their goals and prepare for fulfilling adult lives.

Transparency and Accountability

We are committed to using Pupil Premium funding effectively and being accountable for the outcomes we achieve. We:

  • Carefully analyse the needs of our disadvantaged pupils
  • Plan spending based on evidence of what works
  • Monitor the impact of our interventions and approaches
  • Review and adapt our strategy regularly
  • Report clearly on how funding has been spent and the difference it has made
