Uniform Policy
At Stanley School, our uniform policy prioritises your child's comfort, independence and wellbeing. We understand that many of our pupils have sensory needs or require adaptations, and we are flexible in our approach.
All uniform is optional branded - non-branded alternatives are equally acceptable.
Our Uniform
Everyday:
- Royal blue jumper or cardigan (logo optional)
- Black or grey trousers, skirt or shorts
- White, pale blue or yellow polo shirt or shirt (logo optional)
PE:
- White t-shirt (logo optional)
- Blue or black shorts
- Pumps or trainers
Swimming:
- One-piece swimming costume or swimming shorts
- Towel
We encourage clothing that helps your child dress independently – velcro shoes, pull-on trousers, elastic waists etc.
Where to Buy
Branded items (optional): Available from school, Design Stitch (Moreton) or the Uniform Shop (Birkenhead)
Non-branded items: Any high street shop or supermarket
Second-hand uniform: Contact our pupil support and family liaison officer, Louise, for our free uniform exchange scheme
Cost and Support
We don't want cost to be a barrier to a child accessing school
- Branded items are entirely optional
- We actively encourage non-branded alternatives
- Free pre-loved uniform available through our exchange scheme
- Financial support available - speak to Holly Barker, Head Teacher, in confidence
We will never exclude a pupil from school or activities due to uniform.
Flexibility for SEND and Medical Needs
We understand that uniform may need to be adapted for:
- Sensory needs (different fabrics, tagless clothing, loose fits)
- Independence skills (velcro, elastic waists, simplified items)
- Medical equipment or continence needs
- Physical disabilities
Common adjustments we support:
- Sensory-friendly alternatives
- Specialist footwear
- Modified fastenings
- Alternative colours if needed
- Simplified uniform with fewer items
Contact your child's class teacher to discuss any adjustments – we're here to help.
