Deers

Welcome to Deers Class – our Pre-Formal class for children aged 5 to 10 years. We are a calm yet fun and supportive environment with clear boundaries where every child is supported to feel safe, settled and valued as individuals.

Our Team

Class Teacher: Katie

Support Staff: Angie, Tracey and Sammie

We work together as a team to ensure every child receives the support and encouragement they need throughout the school day.

Our priorities for the year are ensuring that all children are well regulated, settled and that all their individual needs are met so they can achieve all of their personal targets and become more independent learners. Communication and physical skills are high priorities for us, as we focus on encouraging as much independence as possible.

Some favourite activities throughout the week are swimming, Jabadao, Friendship Friday, hand class and sensory play. The children in Deers Class thrive in a calm yet fun and supportive environment with clear boundaries. They need to feel safe and settled and, above all, valued as individuals.

This year we have a range of topics to learn about. We are exploring Autumn and Halloween, Bonfire Night and Christmas, Vikings, USA Road Trip, The Wild West and Wimbledon. These topics help spark curiosity and engagement whilst supporting our children's learning and development.

In Deers class, we work with parents individually to support the needs of their child, including issues with health and behaviour, and also working towards their educational targets. Daily messages between staff and parents can help communicate how the children are feeling and will help ease that transition into school in the morning as we know how we can best help the children as they enter the room, as well as us letting you know how your child is coming home.
