Rabbits
Welcome to Rabbits Class – our Semi-Formal class for children aged 6 to 8 years. We are a capable and enthusiastic group who love hands-on, practical, and sensory experiences both inside and outside the classroom.
Our Team
Class Teacher: Fintan
Support Staff: Di, Alana, Paula and Becky
We work together as a team to ensure every child receives the support and encouragement they need throughout the school day.
A key focus for the class is to develop emotional regulation and positive peer interactions. We have a really capable bunch of pupils in the class and, as well as helping them progress academically through building strong foundations in communication, literacy, and mathematics through a highly practical and sensory-rich curriculum, we also want to help pupils become more confident and independent and engage with both their school and the wider community.
We are also working towards whole-class goals such as improving turn-taking, responsibility (through weekly class jobs), and recognising the importance of kind and safe behaviour.
Rabbits Class learn best through hands-on, practical, and sensory experiences. Our pupils love learning outside the classroom and love every opportunity they get to go on trips and take part in new experiences.
Some of the main topics we will be focusing on this year include:
- Festivals Around the World
- Traditions Past & Present
- Our World and its Wonders
- Science & Sensory Exploration
- Space & Exploration
- The Environment, Animals & Caring for Our World
These topics help the children develop their understanding of the world around them whilst building key skills in communication, literacy and mathematics.
We maintain strong communication with parents through regular messages, updates, and photos on Class Dojo. We share information about daily learning and achievements and class events. Information on class topics and learning is shared and work is available to be sent home for parents to support with learning.
