Foxes

Welcome to Foxes Class – our Informal sensory class made up of all boys aged 8 to 11 years. We are a dynamic, hands-on learning environment where every child is supported to communicate, connect with others and develop the skills they need to thrive.

Our Team

Class Teacher: Sean

Support Staff: Lisa, Kirsten and Rain

We are working on a number of important priorities for each pupil this year:

  • Appropriate and effective communication – Helping each child find their own way to express themselves and be understood
  • Building up our resilience and understanding when a breakdown in communication occurs – Learning strategies to manage frustration and find alternative ways to communicate
  • Developing social interactions and friendships – Creating opportunities for the boys to connect with each other
  • Learning to tolerate and enjoy shared proximity and peer interactions – Building comfort with being near others and engaging together

These goals are at the heart of everything we do in Foxes Class.

In Foxes Class we love sensory play, Jabadao, bucket therapy and swimming – activities that get us moving, exploring and experiencing the world through all our senses!

The children in Foxes Class learn best through doing. We believe in active, hands-on learning where the boys can touch, feel, move and explore. This approach helps them engage fully and make sense of their experiences.

The biggest focus for the year is:

  • Shared attention – Learning to focus together on activities and experiences
  • Self-regulation – Developing strategies to manage our emotions and stay calm and ready to learn
  • Appropriate communication – Finding effective ways to express our needs, wants and feelings

These three areas underpin all our learning and will help the boys develop the skills they need for school and beyond.

In Foxes Class, we believe in working on shared common goals for the pupils. By collaborating closely with parents, we can ensure consistency between home and school and provide the best possible support for each child.

We work together to:

  • Identify priorities that matter most to each family
  • Share strategies that work well at school so they can be used at home
  • Celebrate progress and achievements together
  • Support each other when challenges arise

This partnership approach means we're all working towards the same goals, giving each child the best chance to succeed.

We are very proud of the hard work the boys in Foxes Class are doing, and we are committed to supporting the high standards the boys can achieve. Every day, we see their determination, their progress and their unique personalities shine through. We feel privileged to be part of their journey.
