Speech and Language Therapy
Charlotte is the School Speech & Language Therapist. She has worked at Stanley since September 2017. Charlotte holds a Bsc in Psychology and Masters degree in Speech & Language Therapy from Manchester Met. Her role is consultative in its nature; advising teachers on whole class strategies to maximise communication as well as offering advice. She is also communication and language subject leader. Although Charlotte regularly liaises with the NHS SALT service, she works entirely separately and works for the local authority. The day to day work consists of assessment, observations, liaison with teaching staff, completing clinical case notes and attendance at behaviour workshops and child in need meetings. Charlotte has a flexible timetable to ensure that even if she is not seeing all children weekly, she will be regularly in class to guide and advise teachers. On request she can develop comprehensive communication reports. SALT offer staff “top up” training and parent training workshops in “Enhancing communication with your child”, as well as workshops in Signing and PECS.
“Areas of interest for me include Play Therapy, SEN children’s mental health, animal therapies (I would love to get Stanley a regular therapy dog!) and Attention Autism”
